Jästbolaget's production site in Sollentuna

Welcome to Jästbolaget

Jästbolaget translates from Swedish as The Yeast Company, and that is exactly what we are. Founded in 1893, we have been producing yeast ever since at our factory just north of Stockholm, now extensively refurbished into one of the most modern in Europe. Characterized by our high social and environmental awareness, we are the Nordic region’s No. 1 producer and supplier of yeast and yeast-based products. We are the market leader in Sweden and Norway, and also a major exporter.

Yeast is a living organism, and ultimately our job is to give it the best possible growth conditions. Yeast production is an advanced biochemical process, and our factory is highly automated. Drawing on many years of experience and a skilled team, we offer a wide range of high-quality yeasts for use in the production of bread, wine, beer, animal feed and more. We also have an extensive development programme where we work on new products and applications and improvements on existing ones.

Thanks to our modern facilities, expert staff and high-quality products, we are the largest manufacturer of baker’s yeast in the Nordic region. The company has 55 employees and produces around 20,000 tons of yeast a year.

Jästbolaget is part of the Orkla Group, the Nordic region’s leading supplier of branded consumer goods and concept solutions for the grocery and out-of-home sectors. The Norwegian parent company Orkla ASA is listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange.

Our values

Our values guides us in how to behave towards our collegues, consumers, customers, owners and society.

We have chosen three values to guide our attitudes, behaviour and decision-making.

We challenge ourselves to be brave – to think more innovatively, to act more boldly and to be world-class. It is the value that is most essential for driving us forward and compelling us to take necessary risks. Brave people aim high and love to win. They speak up if something is wrong. They take on demanding discussions and make tough decisions.

Trustworthy people are professional, skilful and reliable. People can trust us. We keep our promises. We take on our responsibilities towards consumers, customers, owners and society. We deliver. We are in it for the long haul, and tackle obstacles as they arise. We think and work long term, combining endurance and energy.

Inspired people are passionate and burn with a desire to succeed. They innovate continuously. We inspire consumers, customers, partners and each other.

Orkla's values

Vision and mission

Jästbolaget’s vision is to create natural fermentation while caring for both people and the environment.

Our mission is to be the leading Nordic manufacturer and partner for natural yeast and yeast-based products.

Our history

Yeast has a long history and has never gone out of fashion – just like Jästbolaget itself.
The company was founded back in 1893 and has been producing fresh Swedish yeast in Sollentuna, just north of Stockholm, ever since.
Although both yeast and Jästbolaget have been around for a long time, our factory and our production have changed beyond recognition over the years. At the same time as we hold on to the best of our old traditions, we are an innovative and forward-looking company with high social and environmental awareness.
